The New Face of Google Chrome

This Post is Brought To You By Talal Rajab of The Urbanite

Jamal Edwards, aged 16

After a month in which young people, particularly young black boys, have been given such a bad reputation this past month due to the actions of looters and rioters, it is refreshing to see who has been chosen as the new face of Google Chrome in their latest advert.

The fantastic new Google Chrome advert, which premiered this weekend, chronicles the rise of Britain's most promising young entrepreneur, Jamal Edwards.  Aged just 20, Edwards is the founder and CEO of one of my favourite websites and the UK's leading youth broadcaster, SBTV.

For those that do not know, SBTV was founded in 2007 as an online channel that featured freestyles, performances and interviews with the hottest acts in the UK urban scene.  Armed with just his video camera and enthusiasm Edwards has grown the channel into one of the successful websites in the industry and now features some of the world's biggest artists, from Justin Beiber to Alicia Keyes.  All in the space of four years.

Edwards has now inked a label deal with Sony RCA and has signed up and coming rapper Maxsta to his sub-label.

This advert with Google marks an impressive rise to the top for Jamal Edwards and is only what he deserves for helping to bring the UK grime/hip hop scene to the forefront of mainstream music.

Not only is Edwards one of the most powerful guys in the UK music scene, but he is now the face of one of the biggest brands in the world.  This just goes to show you what young men can achieve when they put their mind to it.

Hats off to you, Mr Edwards!

P.S Someone should send this clip to David Starkey and get him to talk to Jamal Edwards.  Maybe he can let him know what adopting 'black culture' can help you achieve!
